Exhibition Text
On the occasion of the opening of Between Earthly Beings and the Unknown Cosmic World: The Continent, the Július Koller Society, Slovakia, hosted an iteration of Zahedi’s Tapping Performance. This live sound performance will serve as an acoustic guide through the exhibition, a group show made up of many multimedia artworks.
In Tapping Performance, Zahedi uses contact microphones and non-electric instruments to induce a state of active listening in viewers. Through such attention, the performance not only makes the space of the gallery newly experiential, and animate, but asks viewers to register their own sonic interpretations of the space, thereby making it more accessible to them.
