[Loading Loading (the inertia of practice)] site-specific installation for CAPC museum of contemporary art of Bordeaux, France, 2022

Image Gallery

Artwork Text
Curated by Cédric Fauq with François Poisay, Abbas Zahedi’s installation Loading Loading (l’inertie du pratique), 2022, temporarily replaces Richard Long’s White Rock Line (1990) while the work is being restored [nb. to date the artwork is still in situ (December 2025)].
Emphasising the absence of Long’s piece with a floor-painted loading bar, the artist also points towards its upcoming comeback. To better “wait” he conceived, in close collaboration with Renaud Beaurepaire (Capc), a bus stop, of which some components share aesthetics qualities with Andrée Putmann’s benches designed for the museum. On Sunday the 18th of September at 3.30pm, the installation will be activated by the artist himself with a sound performance.

Curator’s Statement
‘The installation White Rock Line (1990) by Richard Long is the starting point for Abbas Zahedi who, rather than concealing the presence of this work, marks its absence by installing a “ghost” signage with exact dimensions. from the intervention of Richard Long, taking the form of a loading bar – of the type that we are used to seeing on our screens. This gesture to signify the “expectation” of art, of the return of Richard Long’s work, but also to think about our relationship to the work of art in the museum and beyond.’
